The Virgin and Child at the entrance to the Gulf of Morbihan, in Locmariaquer to be precise, is represented by a monumental statue by Jules-Charles Le Bozec. Standing 2.70 metres high and made entirely of granite, it represents the legend of Notre Dame de Kerdro ("Welcome back" in Breton), which says that the Virgin appeared to a fishing boat and indicated that it should turn around. The crew were then saved from a violent storm.
