Sinagot, traditional sailing
Learn more about photography
The sinago, or sinagot, is a small sailing boat, traditionally used until the early 1950s in the Gulf of Morbihan for coastal fishing and oyster dragging. Her rigging consists of two third sails. The ocher red color of the sails is due to the mixture of tallow and crushed pine bark used to tan them.
It was a windless morning that Philip Plisson captured this rare moment of calm and serenity.
